Central Connector

The Central Connector is a bus priority project connecting Britomart and Newmarket via some of the city’s busiest locations, including Auckland City Hospital, the University and its medical school. The walk to and from the bus is the first trip in the ‘bus journey’ therefore the pedestrian environment is as important as the bus lanes themselves. This philosophical approach led to many changes that would not be possible on typical streetscape projects. Brewer Davidson were urban design sub-consultants to BECA. the project received a NZIA Award in 2010.
